Seia

Seia is a city in the Guarda district, located in the province of Beira Alta, central region and sub-region of Serra da Estrela, with about 21,755 inhabitants. Equidistant between the cities of Guarda and Viseu, benefit of the accesses through these cities. It is, together with Covilhã and Manteigas, one of the municipalities that share the highest point of Mainland Portugal: the Serra da Estrela Tower.

Seia has a vast cultural heritage composed of built monuments, and archaeological heritage. Equally worth of visit, are its museums and, of course, all the natural heritage, which includes the Serra da Estrela, rivers, lagoons, but also river beaches and hiking routes, which you can walk, while you know the most beautiful and hidden corners of this county.

Given its importance by its proximity to the Serra da Estrela, it is a municipality that offers its inhabitants and tourists various services and infrastructures necessary for well-being and convenience. It is a city that invites you to visit all year round, and offers program for everyone during the four seasons.

Gastronomy is also one of the highlights of the municipality, worthy of appreciation. The dishes and regional products stand out the black cake, the breads and calhorras of Loriga, the lamb and the kid of Serra da Estrela, the pumpkin jam, the sausages and the typical cheese of the Serra, the chestnut hedgehogs, the queijada da Serra, among others of local production. With regard to drinks, wines, medronho brandy, but also Mountain Gin can be highlighted.
