Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco

The Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) created, about 28 years ago, the School of Technology and Management (ESTIG) - Decree-Law No. 355/90 of 10 November - in Idanha-a-Nova. The facilities were ceded by the City Council. It started its activities, in October 1991, with the courses of Financial Management Accounting and Personnel Accounting and Management.
In 1997, the ESTIG is extinct and two new schools are created; one in the Technologies area, based in Castelo Branco, and the School of Management, in Idanha-a-Nova (ESGIN). The year 2002 marks the history of the institution with the approval of the Statutes of this educational establishment. The Marketing and Human Resources course was created; in 2004, the Law area, with the Degree in Solicitation, began to be offered at the school. In 2005 and 2006, ESGIN extends its training area to Tourism and Hospitality.
In 2012, it sees its facilities enlarged with the permission to use the Pedagogical Restaurant Sra da Graça, property of the City Hall of Idanha-a-Nova.
In 2015, in a partnership with the Municipality and the Municipal Center of Culture and Development, creates the Monsanto GeoHotel School.
In the current context, the construction of an international dimension of Higher Education of quality and competitiveness, capable of attracting students from other continents, has imposed itself.
The quality of teaching, essential for competitive success, is focused on the work of the student, on the skills he must acquire, throughout the training. That is why we promote synergies that consolidate the Knowledge Society, developing convergent efforts to value Higher Education and Research, to innovate, preserving diversity.
The accumulated experience generates opportunities for development. The balance is positive; we guarantee a quality training offer and an exchange that has led the School to a status of privileged partnership in local and regional development projects. Inwardness is not a stigma. It is, rather, an emblem, if we privilege the advantages that arise from possible experiences here and now. Modernity is not incompatible with the interior, but rather it builds on these roots the capacity for openness that we desire and stimulate.
ESGIN is a school with memory, history and identity. The time in which we live calls for the definition of actions that are guided by rigor and relevance.
It currently teaches professional technical courses, undergraduate, postgraduate (face-to-face and distance learning) and master's degrees.
