Roman "Villa" of Rabaçal

The exhibition "Villa Romana do Rabaçal: Once upon a time...", held inside this interpretation centre or museum (Rua da Igreja / Rabaçal), is one of the three nuclei that are contemplated in order to make the Roman presence on site understandable.
The objects to be seen have no evidence of function, lost that are in the haze of time its ancient users. They have been collected, are organized and now live in a space architecturally created from scratch.
It is therefore essential to visit the other two nuclei, places of origin and space for understanding these objects.
Thus we suggest, in a first stage, a visit to the archaeological station (Lugar da Ordem / Rabaçal) which includes the manor house, the seaside resort, the rustic area and the water lift systems and, in a second stage, access to the panoramic view of chanca, with belver over the landscape, roads and settlement.
As you will see, there are many stable Mediterranean crop facts present in the rabaçal valley, such as olive groves, vineyards, cereal fields, vegetable gardens, favahs, lupins, grain and pumpkin land, the willows, the use of Florida, the threshing-floors and their adarves, the shanties and the rollers, the norias and the piccolos, the wells, the springs, the washes and the levadas, the tenements and the grazing of small cattle.
Stay and be enchanted by the silence of this karst landscape, dry, grey, sinuous and naked, carved by many, for centuries.
