Fornos de Algodres

Algodres Ovens is a village in the Guarda District, in the province of Beira Alta, central region and sub-region of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, headquarters of a municipality with 131.45 km² of area and 4,403 inhabitants (2021), subdivided into 12 parishes. The municipality is bordered to the northeast by Trancoso, to the east by Celorico da Beira, to the south by Gouveia, to the west by Mangualde and Penalva do Castelo and to the northwest by Aguiar da Beira.

The road network of the municipality is quite favorable and connects you to Guarda and Viseu, both less than 50 km away. In addition to the proximity of these two cities, easy access to Porto and Lisbon is easy. The cities of Aveiro, Coimbra and Vilar Formoso are also easily accessible. It should be noted that the municipality is very close to Spain, namely the cities of Salamanca and Madrid. In the sweets, be sure to try the biscuits, children and coscorões, cream milk, sweet rice, folares and olive oil cakes.
