Order of the Templars
The Tomar Castle, which houses inside the Convent of Christ, and the Castle of Almourol, make the Middle Tagus a territory where you feel the mystic of the Templars, in a special atmosphere and full of secrets to reveal.
In this region, you can discover a past punctuated by the remains of the Knights Templar and throughout its history, with strong references that offer lovers or curious in the theme the opportunity to get caught up in municipalities, cohecer and visit spaces that date back to that time.
 
 
Marked Religious Presence
The Templar presence in the region was not only based on the conquest and defense of the territory, but also on the policies of settlement and economic development.
In Fatima, Altar of the World, one of the most important Marian Shrines in the world, isit is known as one of the most esteemed pilgrimage sites in the world, and one of the most sought after destinations in Portugal. In the neoclassical Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima are the tombs of Lucia and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta. The Chapel, right in the heart of the Sanctuary, marks the site of the Apparitions to the Little Shepherds.

Wildlife lovers can explore the Paul do Boquilobo Nature Reserve, home to the most important colony of herons in the Portuguese territory, among other rare bird species.
On the banks of the Castelo de Bode Dam, venture into cable parks, wakeboarding resorts and other equipment conducive to water and water sports.

Unmistakable Flavors
Divided between meat and fish from the river, washed down with wines of the best regional varieties, the flavors of the Middle Tagus are genuine and unmistakable.
From the river comes the inspiration to make lamprey rice, the açorda de shad, the fried bowl, the grilled large fish and the stew of eels.
From the mountains, there are aromas and palates that the earth provides us: the cabbage soup with beans, the soups of green, the maranhos or stuffed loofah and the rice morcela.
As for the sweets, let yourself be delighted by the sky cheeses and the slices of Tomar, the straw of Abrantes, the bowls, the toasted, the cakes of pasta lêveda, the kisses me quickly, the bean crayons, the limes, the chestnuts, the mulattos, the sweet bread, among many other delicacies.
