The three sectors of economic activity are present, occupying the tertiary sector the majority of the working population, followed by secondary and, finally, primary.

Inserted in the platform of Mondego and defined as a vast plateau surrounded by mountains, it integrates the plateau beirão. To the north and northeast is delimited by the mountains of Nave, Côta, Leomil and Lapa, to the Northwest by the Serra do Caramulo, Gralheira and Montemuro, and to the Southeast by serra da Estrela. Formed by small mountains, the territory extends towards Senhora do Weeby. It is visited by several watercourses that subsidize two important river routes.

The climate is mild, with the maximum temperature peak reached in August and the minimum in January.

The historical importance of the county is remarkable. There are traces of human presence in this region from prehistory and an evolution of the occupation of the territory to the present day. The populations have experienced several challenges over time, and adaptation to different economic and social contexts is also visible in the history and essence of the municipality of Mangualde.

There are, therefore, many monuments and tourist routes available to visit and enjoy, in the city or in nature.

The local gastronomy highlights the bean pastries, the mangualde-style beirão stew, the goat baked in a wood oven and, of course, the cheese of the mountains. Promoting the gastronomy, palates, flavors and brands of the region are objective of the Municipality of Mangualdense, which launched a campaign called «(De)Gostar Mangualde", which intends to present a product of the municipality monthly.

The municipality of Mangualde has a great abundance of resources, which also result in an artisanal tradition in which tibaldinho embroidery, pottery, stained glass, honey, ceramics and small distillery gain special prominence for the economy and population subsistence.

Rural and housing tourism are the excellence of Mangualde, where you can take the opportunity to rest and appreciate what the municipality has to offer. You can also enjoy moments of well-being at the Alcafache Termas, or family leisure at Live Beach.
